Michael is Famous on the Internet!

Filed under: Cool Stuff, New Things — russ at 7:49 am on Thursday, March 27, 2008

I saw that there was a sweded Jurassic Park off BoingBoing yesterday (for those not in the know, BoingBoing, net is one of the most widely read blogs on the webs and has received quite a few awards.) When i saw this, I at first I thought it was the same group that Michael had done with Lord of the Rings. I was bragging to all my coworkers that my friend was famous on the internet. It turns out that Michael had nothing to do with that and I had to eat my words. I had no idea that Sweding was a new meme going round the ol’ intarwebs.

However today dawned with sweet vindication when I awoke to find that Michael was indeed famous on the internet and that he had been lavished with such praise as “so elaborate and well-wrought that it almost doesn’t qualify as sweded”. Congrats Michael! (Also you have stuff to put on your blogs now, so start typin!)

Celest, Our First Flash Game

At work we just released our first version of our first ever flash video game. Its a game where you try to fly your dot..er..spaceship into the target area. Might not be fun for everyone, but some of you might be able to kill a few minutes at work and have a bit of fun.

Web Pimp

I am now a web pimp. I added photos of Russell and I on the sidebar and oh yes… I did it in code. I know some of you are jealous and would like for to explain how I did it but unfortunately a web pimp never tells.

Seriously does our congress have nothing better to do…

Recently congress passed a bill declaring the USA a Christian nation. http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=hr110-847 Seems like it would be a breach of the establishment clause if not for the fact that it actually does nothing.

Glad to see that while we cant end (or even make any progress on) the war, punish corruption, advance our education system, stop our lying president, or really anything of actual importance, we can take time to all agree that “our” religion (well 1/3 of us anyway, and who really cares about those other 4 billion people, they are just gonna burn in hell anyway) is truly peachy keen. I really wish that the professed Christians in our country actually took the time to study what Christ said, and then actually applied it to any aspect of their own lives.

Hiking in the Woods

So Nathan recently inherited some land, and yesterday, we decided to scout it out.

Tree Wall

Along one of the property lines, there is an awesome tree wall.

Pines

While wandering we came upon this incredibly gnarly, twisty pine.

gnarly pine

It seems that there is some disease out there eating pine trees. It seemed to affect between 5% and 20% of the trees. If you look closely, you can see little white flecks on one. Those are termites eating it (that tree seemed to already be dead, so we don’t think the termites are to blame, though we don’t know.)

Circle of Life

We saw the circle of life in progress in the form of some bones and a dead fox.

Mini-Vacation

From the ancient past of February :

Shannon won a free vacation at the Ritz Carlton resort from her previous job. So one weekend, we headed up/over to the Amelia Island Ritz Carlton. Shannon Might leave more text later.

Room and Resort

Our room at the Ritz was awesome. It was across the hall from the Rich Folks Lounge, which we were allowed to use. It had good “free” food and booze.

Fairbanks House

While wandering around, we came across this great house. Its now a bed-and-breakfast, so you could stay there if you wanted to. It reminds me of the Mansion at Disney.

New Washer / Dryer

Filed under: New Things — russ at 7:05 am on Friday, June 15, 2007

Sorry for the slacking, I am going to be making like 3 posts in a row today (hopefuly)

So a while back the washer and dryer we were storing/using for some friends got reappropriated. My Mother had a relatively new washer with a bad pump (easy fix) So we bought a new dryer from Sears. I would rather not use them next time as they were very pushy and insistent. For once, best buy seemed much nicer.

We also purchased a new stove, but we do not have any pictures of it currently.

“Big Mans Package” Store near Atlanta, GA. We saw this one on the way to the MMW Concert in Atlanta and had to get a picture (we had already purchased booze elsewhere). Big Mans Package (near)

Near Atlanta they tried really hard to hide the cellphone tower. Which from a distance had us asking, “Is that a cellphone tower or a really ugly tree?”

All of the local Compass Banks are offering something great with their service: Free Identity Theft!!!!

The local disc golf course bathroom contains the most useless handicap bars ever.

On the way to dinner on April Fools we say this truck in the parking lot.

April Fools (Plastic Wrapped Truck)

Its hard to tell from the picture, but this is another plastic wrapped truck. These pranksters took it a step further however, by putting soft core gay porn behind the saran wrap. The image is a picture of their treatment of the windshield. (Relatively NSFW - though no nudity)
